Our Knotted Snake Leather Tie Belt is the original of the none metal buckle belts made out of necessity during the Second World War designed by Rodger Rilleau of Provincetown.

New England Leathersmith Jeff Taylor has been making this design since learning it in the mid 1980’s from Leathersmith Bill Sharpe in Barnstable on Cape Cod.

These were referred to in the 1960’s as “The Knotted Snake Belt”. The original fashionable functional Art belt design uses one set of vertical slots and ties in a unique figure 8 shape knot. This unique shaped and tapered design is  locally Artisan handcrafted and comes with a diagram that shows how the tie goes.

Although it may seem somewhat complicated at first, the “knot” is actually very easy to learn and becomes automatic after only a few fittings.
